Do I need a hope journal?

So many times, we feel hopeless, the situation could be any but we feel there is no getting out it.

Hope Defined

Hope involves a belief that you could create a positive outcome. It is not dreaming—like wishing you would win the lottery. Instead, hope means you believe that you can achieve a goal—like you could work hard and get out of debt.

There is a vast difference between hope and optimism. Whereas optimism makes one feel good things will happen, it is a desire without you doing anything about it. Hope requires action from your part. It is the future action from your end which will make the desired result possible.

During tough times, it’s very natural to feel hopeless. But it is preciously during this time, we need to hope most.

Easier said than done, it requires mental strength, especially when you feel awful but need to cultivate a shred of hope.

As rightly said “when the going gets tough, the tough gets going”.

Why Hope Is So Important?

Hope often becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. When you believe that you have the power to make things better, you are more likely to try.

What you hope for, however, might change over time. Rather than hope something good will happen, you might find yourself hoping you can manage the outcome—whatever that outcome may be.

Combine Hope with Gratitude

When we combine hope with gratitude, it becomes easier to stay persistent, to carry on.

Write a five-minute journal for things you are thankful to God, for times you were in bad situation and got bailed out.

I am sure this will give you instant relief and boost your hope.

Read through those entries the next time you feel hopeless.
